The first post. Everything's got to start somewhere. . . Discuss!
Have you seen Conways game of life? Excellent. My father used to play using pens and graph paper. The idea is that you draw a pattern of dots on a grid. You then apply a rule to each dot. I think the rule goes - if there are 2 or 3 dots adjacent the dot survives; more or less and it dies. Any space which has 3 dots adjacent generates a dot. The resulting pattern is drawn and the process repeated. Gradually the pattern evolves until it reaches stability or disappears. There are now computer progammes which race through the generations in seconds where it would have taken my dad days to complete.
